Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows leaked

July 18, 2007

Four days before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hits bookstores worldwide on the midnight of July 21,  It turns out that someone with access to the American edition of the book has taken a photograph of every one of the pages and made them available via bittorrent. Publishers may well be quaking in their boots, but in some places the quality is barely legible. On many pages the pirateer’s hands are in the pictures with other pages needing a bit of Photoshopping just to make out the words. It appears many of the sites have been removing the content, naturally enough.”

The New Seven Wonders of the World

July 17, 2007

At a wonderful ceremony held in Lisbon on 07/07/2007, people of this planet inherited a new list of seven wonders of the world. Earlier when we had a list of seven wonders, that list was prepared and passed on by ancient scholars and others. On the other hand, this New Seven Wonders of the World list was not compiled by an ancient scholar but by people of the planet like you and me who voted on the new seven wonders online and through text messaging.

The New Seven Wonders of the World

#1. The Taj Mahal, Agra, India

The Taj Mahal received the highest number of votes for the New Seven Wonders of the world list. The Taj Mahal is considered to be the eternal symbol of love. It was built by an Indian Emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal who died while giving birth to their child.

The Taj Mahal was completed in 1648 and was built over a period of 16 years with workmen and sculptors from all over the world lending their hand to this massive project. The finest material like the Marble, the Jade, Crystal, turquoise was sourced from all over the world. Nearly every inch of the 55 m tall Taj Mahal is decorated. This symbol of love is visited by more than 3 million people all over every year.

#2. The Coliseum, Rome, Italy

The Coliseum was one of the first monuments to get a confirmed spot in the list of the New Seven wonders of the world. You probably saw the Coliseum in Gladiator and many other popular Roman movies. The Coliseum was built by Roman Emperor Vespasian where work began in 72 BC and took about 10 years to complete.

The Roman Emperors used the Coliseum to stage war games and entertainment where Gladiators used to fight in the re-staging of famous battles, animal fights etc often paying with their lives for the entertainment. At its heyday, the Coliseum could seat upto 50,000 people.

July 16, 2007

For most people who get extremely tired and stressed out at the end of a hard day’s work or attending classes, they need some kind of a stress buster. Exercise and working out can serve as an excellent stress buster. If we need to get more specific, Boxing exercises and boxing workouts can be extremely beneficial not only for stress relief but serve as excellent workouts.

We are going to show you a video where we are going to do some boxing workouts and boxing for fitness.

We will start off by warming up our bodies. A skipping rope or a jump rope can serve as an excellent warm up. They usually cost around 10 bucks … so they are a cheap and an inexpensive workout helpers. Use the jump rope for around 10 minutes to warm up your body. Warming up is good and you won’t injure your muscles later on. After that we do some shoulder rotation, ab rotation and stretching of calf muscles. With that we complete our warm up routine before we begin our boxing for fitness and boxing exercises and boxing workouts.

Watch the rest of the video to watch Joe Dowdell of Peak Performance guiding Kim Strother through this grueling boxing workout. Exhausting, yes, but Kim’s says this workout is an amazing stress reliever.

Virtual Travel using SideStep

July 13, 2007

SideStep has grown into one of the best travel sites on the Internet providing people not only with the best bargain prices on Hotels and airlines but also act as a travel and tourist guide by providing you with a wealth of information on your destination be it the hang out spots, night life hot spots, watering holes for the thirsty etc

SideStep uses its extensive group of online agencies, consolidators and also the websites of airlines, hotels and rental car companies to provide the best deal for one, something that fits your budget as well as travel needs.

For example, I have the biggest urge to visit the city of the Matt Leinart, the Arizona Cardinals and the land of Steve Nash.

Forget the stately cacti and cowboys riding off into the sunset; think Los Angeles without the Pacific. While the nation has carefully nurtured its image of Phoenix as a desert cow town, this city in the Sonoran Desert has rocketed into the 21st century and become the sixth-largest city in the country. Sprawling across 400 square miles of what once was cactus and creosote bushes, the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, also known as the Valley of the Sun (or, more commonly, just the Valley), is now a major metropolitan area replete with dozens of resort hotels, fabulous restaurants, excellent museums, hundreds of golf courses, world-class shopping, four pro sports teams, and a red-hot nightlife scene.

Sure, it also has traffic jams and smog, but at the end of the day, it can usually also claim to have had beautiful sunny weather. Sunshine and blue skies, day after day after day have made this one of the most popular winter destinations in the country. When Chicago weather forecasts call for snow and subzero temperatures you can have a hard time getting a tee time on a Phoenix area golf course. Phoenicians may get the summertime blues when temperatures hit the triple digits, but from September to May, the climate here can verge on perfect — warm enough in the daytime for lounging by the pool by those Phoenix Hotels but cool enough at night to require a jacket.

With green lawns, orange groves, swimming pools, and palm trees, it’s easy to forget that Phoenix is in the middle of the desert. Water channeled in from distant reservoirs has allowed this city to flourish like a desert oasis. However, if you find yourself wondering where the desert is, you need only lift your eyes to one of the many mountains that rise up from amid the urban sprawl. South Mountain, Camelback Mountain, Mummy Mountain, Piestewa Peak, Papago Buttes, Pinnacle Peak — these rugged, rocky summits have been preserved in their natural state, and it is to these cactus-covered uplands that the city’s citizens retreat when they’ve had enough asphalt and air-conditioning. From almost anywhere in the Valley, you’re no more than a 15- or 20-minute drive from a natural area where you can commune with cacti while gazing out across a bustling, modern city.

Best of all, at the end of the day, you can retreat to a comfortable bed at one of the country’s top resorts. Welcome to Phoenix !
