If you wish to mark your calenders for the next couple of years, in 2008 (May 11) , in 2009 (May 10), in 2010 (May 9) and in 2011 ( May 11).
People in different countries celebrate Mothers’ Day on different days of the year because the day has a number of different origins. In the UK, it falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent (exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday). It is believed to have originated from the 16th Century Christian practice of visiting one’s mother church annually, which meant that most mothers would be reunited with their children on this day. Some other countries like Vietnam celebrate Mother’s day on Women’s day on March 8th. But for the most part, in the United States and in most countries around the world, Mother’s day is celebrated on the second Sunday in the month of May.
Children treat their Mum’s taking them out to dinner, buying them roses etc and for the most part while its the thought that counts, they just take time off from their busy schedule and give this day to the person that probably loves them the most. Mothers often receive gifts on this day. For Mothers Day roses, tradition calls for the wearing of roses or carnations on Mother’s Day — a red one if one’s mother is alive, and white if she has died.
So , send roses this Mothers day and make sure you spend some quality time with her.
