The Police on Worldwide Tour, playing at Live Earth Concert

The Police were one of the most famous rock band groups of the 80s comprising of Singer/bassist Sting, guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland. The Police vowed international audiences with their style of reggae and punk music with their album Synchronicity going number one in the US and UK and also going platinum eight times in the US.

After the Synchronicity tour ended in March 1984, the band members persued their own solo career. The Poce in  2003, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. At the 2007  Grammies The Police annouced that they “This is The Police and we are back!” much to the excitement of their fans including me. They also annouced there that they would be touring together in 2007 and would be playing at the Live Earth concert in July 2007.

Listening to classics, The Police rank as my all time favorite groups ever and I am absolutely ecstatic that they are going on a world wide tour.  As part of that, they are releasing a new CD which features hits from all their five albums. 1. Fallout: Part of Ghost in the Machine album whose covert art features an LED graphic that depicts the heads of the three band members each with a distinctive hair style and the song features heavy use of keyboards and saxophones
2. Can’t Stand Losing You: Can’t Stand Losing You was part of their second album Reggatta de Blanc and another excellent instrumental.
3. Next to You : This song is part of their debut album Outlandos d’Armour, a punk number with a slide guitar solo in the middle
4. Roxanne : This classical song was to become the first big hit of The Police and was part of their first album Outlandos d’Amour.
5. Truth Hits Everybody : This song is about love gone wrong and part of their debut album
6. Hole in My Life: Another song from their debut album, is a reggae type song about loneliness.
7. So Lonely : So lonely is part of Outlandos d’Armour and is a song about loneliness with a reggae beat
8. Message in a Bottle : Message is a Bottle was part of their second album Reggatta de Blanc and the first # 1 single of the band. This is a Sting penned song about alienation.
9. Reggatta de Blanc : The literal translation of this song is White Reggae. This instrumental song earned the band a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 1981
10. Bring on the Night : Bring on the night is part of Reggatta de Blanc and is about the execution of Gary Gilmore
11. Walking on the Moon : Another Chart topper, part of their second album Reggata de Blanc with strong reggae feel to them
12. Don’t Stand So Close to Me: This single was part of their second album Zenyatta Mondatta and became #1 in the U.K and #5 in the U.S. This song recieved glowing reviews from Rolling Stone, Q Magazine and others.  
13. Driven to Tears: This is a beautiful Sting penned song commenting on poverty
14. Canary in a Coalmine: This song was part of their album Zenyatta Mondatta

Disc: 2
1. Do Do Do de da da Da : This song was part of their album Zenyatta Mondatta and became a top single in both the U.S and U.K
2. Voices Inside My Head: This song is part of Zenyatta Mondatta
3. Invisible Sun: Part of Ghost in the Machine, this song refers to the troubles in Northern Ireland and is beautifully made. This song became #2 in the UK even the video features footage from the Northern Ireland conflict.
4. Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic: This song made it to #3 in the U.S and #1 in Britain
5. Spirits in the Material World: This is part of their fourth Album Ghost in the Machine. This song makes use of a synthesizer to mask the song’s reggae influence with keyboards dubbed over Summers’ original guitar line. This song also made it to the U.S Top 20

6. Demolition Man : This is one of the groups longest songs almost 6 minutes in length and features a strong bass line and saxophone
7. Every Breath You Take : This is without question the best ever single from the band and part of their most popular release Synchronicity. This song immediately went # 1 on both the U.S and U.K charts, aided by a black and white video directed by Godley & Creme. This song won the Best Grammy for the Song of the year as well as Best Pop Performance.
8. Synchronicity I: This song starts off with a catchy sequencer line that repeats through the song.
9. Wrapped Around Your Finger : This song uses subdued keyboards to create a mystical air and is still one of my all time favorites.
10. Walking in Your Footsteps : This features lyrics concerning the relation between extinct dinosaurs and nuclear weapon wielding humans
11. Synchronicity II : This song is amazing and features extensive use of audio feedback and is one of the heaviest songs on the record and the entire Police repertoire. This song won a Grammy for the Best Rock Performance in 1983
12. King of Pain : This song features a large amount of lyrical imagery and uses numerous effects and instruments.
13. Murder by Numbers: This has lyrics detaliling the development of a serial killer.
14. Tea in the Sahara: This is a quite song about three women who are deceived by a prince and left in the desert.
