Happy Thanksgving - What I’m Thankful For
November 22, 2007
I like to wish all AskStudent dot Com readers and all the editors and various contributors to AskStudent, a very happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday. Thanksgiving is not only the time of the year to have the whole family over and enjoy a feast, it’s also a time to reflect on the things we have and living up and which we are thankful for. Here are some of the things I’m thankful for as we celebrate Thanksgiving
* I am thankful for everyone who reads AskStudent. It has been an amazing journey since October of last year where myself and two others started AskStudent. We have seen AskStudent grow from a handful of readers to 100,000 last month. You are the reason all the staff here at AskStudent continue to work hard and try to provide you with relevant information and which you can associate with.
* I am thankful to all the sponsors. They help pay the cost of keeping AskStudent alive and kicking
* I am thankful to the awesome staff I work with at AskStudent. Co- founders Ajit and Alex and the rest of the editors Ryan, Melissa, Christina and Matt. Thank you guys
p.s I still didn’t see the weekly report … guys if you are reading this post ![]()

AskStudent.com has a brand New SEXY Layout
November 10, 2007
Hello AskStudent readers, while some of you are busy taking care of your school stuff, myself and the other editors here went back to our little classroom here. Since we turned 1, we felt that we need to move away from a blog and into more of a fully functional website which we can keep on expanding without the limitations of a blog. So, the AskStudent brain trust went to work and came up with a brand new Sexy layout which is fully functional too.

Enhancements to the Homepage
Instead of following a sequential story by date, we took a magazine approach when presenting articles to you. The homepage is divided into three columns.
On the left hand side we are featuring three categories which ar e the most popular categories at AskStudent. We may expand to more than 3 categories depending on our data and YOUR feedback.
In the middle, which will keep rotating the categories and articles except the AskStudent Announcements section at the top.
On the right hand side, we have a featured video section. Below that we are giving you the chance to sign up for our newsletter to keep updated of the latest news and articles coming out from AskStudent. Below that we have columns showing the latest posts, comments and categories.
Advertiser Love
For us, YOU the reader always come first and will always continue to stay so. We never wanted to clutter AskStudent with advertisements all over the place. However, we wanted to serve relevant ads to you and other targeted ads. The new layout helps us achieve both.
1. There will be a banner ad beside the AskStudent logo, on the top of the homepage as well as every individual article on AskStudent.
2. There will be a 250 x 250 section prominently on the sidebar. This Ad section will be on the homepage and also on every article page.
If you are a reader and wish to advertise with AskStudent, check out our Advertisement page.
Tell us about the layout. Do you like something? Do you Hate something? Do you want something in here?? Let us know. The comments section will be open for this article. Help us serve you better.
Thanks again readers!

October 20, 2007
AskStudent.com celebrates its 1st Birthday today. On October 20, 2006 we started AskStudent with only 1 mission in mind. The ability for students and people like yourself to get quality information on Jobs, career, Music, Videos, College life etc. But first things first…
Congratulations to all the people behind the scenes here at AskStudent: Ajit, Alex, Melissa, Ryan, Matt and Christina. You guys are awesome. Keep up the good work.
Above all, congratulations to you and the million other people since we started out; who have called AskStudent their home online for the information they need and above all making it their hang out place online.
We have several feature updates in the pipeline and will be rolling them out soon.
1. We want to become a bigger social community than we are right now. An immediate enhancement would be the ability for our loyal AskStudent visitors the opportunity to be our eyes and ears on the World Wide Web. We will be giving you guys the opportunity to submit content and the ability to promote those articles onto the front page of AskStudent.com.
2. We want to allow people to submit and share what they care about most. This would include ability to submit and share YOUR pictures, YOUR video, YOUR music online. We want AskStudent.com to be your destination not just for information and news but for everything you care about most. We think the ability to interact with similar people like you is the best thing we can do.
3. Speaking of interaction, two of our editors, Ajit and Alex are working on developing a chat/Instant Messaging client for our AskStudent readers giving you the opportunity to send your friends links and chat and communicate with them real time.
Let us know what you want and what you guys think how we should plan our next step … together with you.
Thanks again and congratulations as we celebrate our 1 year anniversary of AskStudent.

September 11, 2007
Just like the relatives of September 11 victims, we at AskStudent bow our heads in silence this Tuesday to mark the moments where six years earlier, hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field claiming 2,974 victims in the terrorist attacks.
At a memorial service near ground zero, the dreary skies of New York created a grim backdrop probably reflecting the sombre mood among us Americans.
”That day we felt isolated, but not for long and not from each other,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said as the ceremony began. “Six years have passed, and our place is still by your side.”
Construction equipment now fills the vast city block where the World Trade Center once stood, and work is under way for four new towers, forcing the ceremony to be moved away from the twin towers’ footprints for the first time.
6 years has gone by….May we get the man and those that are responsible, May we never forget this day, and may this day, bring all, just a little closer to each other.
God Bless America

AskStudent crosses 300,000 Unique Visitors
August 11, 2007
When AskStudent passed 200,000 unique visitors in 56 days, me and the rest of the editors here were very happy with the rate of our growth. At that point we felt that even if we matched the 56 days +/- 10 days to achieve the next 100,000 visitors, we would be happy.
I am happy to report today that we achieved the 300,000 unique visitor mark in 47 days.

Some Statistics in the last 47 days from June 24 to August 10th 2007

I first reported AskStudent reaching the 100,000 unique visitor mark on April 28th 2007. It took us 190 days since our founding on October 20th 2006 to reach that milestone. Well, I am very happy to post here today that we achieved our target in 56 days. AskStudent today passed the 200,000 unique visitor mark which does not include repeat visitors.
Some Statistics from the 100,000 to 200,000 mark
1. Total Unique Visitors 100,882
2. Total PageViews : 148,859
3. Top six countries where our visitors are from: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Netherlands, Australia, India
