Review of Rob Zombie’s Halloween – The Movie

When I first heard that someone was going to make a remake of the classic Halloween, I was skeptical and I always feel that way when someone wants to tinker with a classic. But when I heard that someone was Rob Zombie of the kickass The Devils Rejects fame, there were reasons to be hopeful. I mean this is Zombie we are talking about, making some awesome horror movies, the kind we have not seen in a while.
Initial reviews from critics say that this is the second greatest Halloween/Horror genre movie ever made where Rob Zombie restores the grandeur of a horror movie. I mean with a tag line of Evil has a Destiny, how can one go wrong with Halloween the movie.
The plot outline (from IMDB) of Halloween the movie is that after being committed for 17 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, is mistakenly released from the mental institution (where he was committed as a 10 year old) and he immediately returns to Haddonfield, where he wants to find his baby sister, Laurie. Anyone who crosses his path is in mortal danger. Zombie doesn’t explain Myer’s evil so much as show it brewing which makes for this classical confused character who can’t explain the evil within and results in some truly terrifying scenes for us.
In this movie, you end up actually caring for the characters in the movie hoping something bad does not happen to them. I mean we all saw the SAW movies, the HOSTELs but how many times did you care about that character. Yup, never. You end up being really moved by Sheri Moon’s character and other characters where it feels like a Greek tragedy where characters commit horrible acts not driven by their weakness but by their nature.
But this movie is definitely outstanding and should be the best horror movie to come out in the last five years, a must watch when it releases in August and when the DVD for this movie comes out it shall take its place beside the original Halloween movie.
And now a new trailer is available online. There are not many horror remakes that have me excited, but I have faith that Zombie has done it right. By the time that the music hits at the conclusion of the trailer, my heart is beating at a rapid pace. Check out the new trailer …

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows leaked

Four days before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hits bookstores worldwide on the midnight of July 21, It turns out that someone with access to the American edition of the book has taken a photograph of every one of the pages and made them available via bittorrent. Publishers may well be quaking in their boots, but in some places the quality is barely legible. On many pages the pirateer’s hands are in the pictures with other pages needing a bit of Photoshopping just to make out the words. It appears many of the sites have been removing the content, naturally enough.”

1. James Dean’s car curse
In September 1955, James Dean was killed in a horrific car accident whilst he was driving his Porsche sports car. After the crash the car was seen as very unlucky.
a) When the car was towed away from accident scene and taken to a garage, the engine slipped out and fell onto a mechanic, shattering both of his legs.
b) Eventually the engine was bought by a doctor, who put it into his racing car and was killed shortly afterwards, during a race. Another racing driver, in the same race, was killed in his car, which had James Dean’s driveshaft fitted to it.
c) When James Dean’s Porsche was later repaired, the garage it was in was destroyed by fire.
d) Later the car was displayed in Sacramento, but it fell off it’s mount and broke a teenager’s hip.
e) In Oregon, the trailer that the car was mounted on slipped from it’s towbar and smashed through the front of a shop.
f) Finally, in 1959, the car mysteriously broke into 11 pieces while it was sitting on steel supports.
2. A falling baby, saved twice by the same man
In Detroit sometime in the 1930s, a young (if incredibly careless) mother must have been eternally grateful to a man named Joseph Figlock. As Figlock was walking down the street, the mother’s baby fell from a high window onto Figlock. The baby’s fall was broken and both man and baby were unharmed. A stroke of luck on its own, but a year later, the very same baby fell from the very same window onto poor, unsuspecting Joseph Figlock as he was again passing beneath. Most of us have come to adore Comedy Central’s “Reno 911″, a Fox reality show about Cops and our nation’s law enforcement officials. We see them through the eyes of Lt.Jim Dangle(Thomas Lennon) and his band of Reno’s ragtag Police Squad. Now, making the jump to the big screen with Reno 911! Miami The Movie, we see our favorite cops go to Miami Florida to a Police Convention. However, a toxic chemical is released at the convention and our Reno officers are the only ones not infected and are now handed over the task of protecting the city of Miami. Guess what .. buffoonery ensues. We see our guys in thong swimsuits, face off with alligators and many more sexual situations and cursing all which definitely satisfy our appetite and the R rating. Now, the DVD of Reno 911! Miami The Movie is out and is a must buy for comedy fans.
In order to give fans of the movie more avenues for entertainment, Fox has added some fun games to the reno dvd website. You have gaming options where you can pick your favorite most wanted posters, Calling all units game and others.
I loved the Midnight shootout game of all the games being offered. At the Midnight shootout shooting range, you are a rookie cop and are trying to prove yourself to the Reno veteran cops. You will be shown a scene with the bad guys, cops and civilians thrown in. You have to take it the scene and after 5 seconds, that portion of the screen is covered up or in other words you are “blind folded”. Now you are given 10 rounds which you can use to pump into the bad guys. You get 100 points for each hit but are also docked points if you hit a civilian and even more if you shoot a cop. In one of the levels you will see a cop along with the bad guys. Try to aim for him more than others. You get a bonus 250 points for each hit instead of the usual 100 points. In the final round, you can have fun with a rocket launcher after going from small guns to an AK47 to assault the downtown.

Tech Letter: Upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0

Dear Tech Support,
Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 and noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up quite a lot of space and valuable resources. No mention of this phenomenon was included in the product brochure.
In addition, Wife 1.0 installs itself into all other programs, and launches during the system initialization where it monitors all other system activity. Applications like Pokernight 10.3, Drunken Boys Night 2.5, and Monday Night Football 5.0 no longer run, crashing the system whenever selected.
I am thinking of going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but the uninstall does not seem to work on this program. Can you help me PLEASE!?!?

Dear Joe,
This is a very common problem men complain about but is mostly due to a primary misconception. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 with the idea that Wife 1.0 is merely utilities and entertainment program.
