Bungie is marking the fifth year anniversary of Halo and have released some tantalizing announcements for fans of the franchise. But first things first….

To celebrate this special occasion, Bungie presented to us a brand spankin’ new screenshot from Halo 3. This is an actual screenshot taken from the actual game within an actual campaign level of Halo 3. This gives us a glimpse of the latest Master Chief model with artist Frank Capezutto providing a great backdrop. Click the picture for the big version in its full hi-res glory!

Halo 3 commercial

There is an exclusive Halo 3 TV commercial set to air during Monday Night Football on December 4th between Carolina Panthers and Phili Eagles.The game should be good… but can’t wait to see this commercial. After the commercial airs on television, it will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace in full 720p glory for you to dissect and discuss. Downside: This won’t be ingame footage but will be CGI

New Halo 2 maps

Yes, yes… finally new Halo 2 multiplayer maps after almost 2 years after the release of the game. These new maps will be available in the spring of 2007. Downside: These maps will cost something to download and that you’ll need a hard drive to download them and available for Xbox 360 only.

Halo 2 for Vista

Bungie are going ahead with an upcoming release of Halo 2 for Windows Vista which should be landing on a PC near you sometime early in 2007. In addition to delivering Halo 2 in stunning hi-res glory with online optimizations and a custom map editor, it’s also the only way to get precious Live achievements.
