This quiz was made up by Albert Einstein and according to him 98% will not solve it.
There is a row of five houses, each having a different colour. In these houses live five people of various nationalities. Each of them nurtures a different beast, likes different drinks and smokes different brand of cigars.
- The Brit lives in the Red house.
- The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
- The Dane drinks tea.
- The Green house is on the left of the White house.
- The owner of the Green house drinks coffee.
- The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
- The owner of the Yellow house smokes Dunhill.
- The man living in the centre house drinks milk.
- The Norwegian lives in the first house.
- The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
- The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
- The man who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
- The German smokes Prince.
- The Norwegian lives next to the Blue house.
- The man who smokes Blends has a neighbour who drinks water.

Nowhere in the problem, except in the question, is the word fish found. Thus the fifth pet might just as well be elephants as fish. After a lot of work you can safely conclude that the German has the fifth pet, but you have to ASSUME that the fifth pet is fish in order to conclude the German has fish.

The German in the the green house (#4) that drinks coffee and smokes prince also keeps fish for pets. Took a little over 1 hour because I kept putting the green house on the right of the white instead of the left.

My I.T teacher gave us this quiz out of the blue in class one day. It was the first day of a new term =0 it was challenging though.
The correct answer to the einstein quiz is you have no idea if anyone keeps fish or not. the german might be keeping a lion or a tiger or an elephant. you are just assuming that the german has the fish but you have no basis for making this assumption.
yes you have a basis for making this assumption by looking the quesiton itself.
