How to bypass BIOS passwords
BIOS can also be said to be a coded program embedded on a chip that recognises and controls various devices that make up the computer.

BIOS passwords can be add extra layer of security for desktop and laptop computers, and are used to either prevent a user from changing the BIOS settings or to prevent the PC from booting without a password. BIOS passwords can also be a liability if a user forgot their passwords, or if a malicious user changes the password. Sending the unit back to the manufacturer to have the BIOS reset can be expensive and is usually not covered in an a typical warranty. However, there are a few known backdoors and other tricks of the trade that can be used to bypass or reset the BIOS password on most systems.
Many BIOS manufacturers have provided backdoor passwords that can be used to access the BIOS setup in the event you have lost your password. These passwords are case sensitive, so you may wish to try a variety of combinations.
WARNING: Some BIOS configurations will lock you out of the system completely if you type in an incorrect password more than 3 times. Read your manufacturers documentation for the BIOS setting before you begin typing in passwords.

Using the Motherboard “Clear CMOS” Jumper or Dipswitch settings : This could also be used to clear CMOS password on Dell machines. Many motherboards feature a set of jumpers or dipswitches that will clear the CMOS and wipe all of the custom settings including BIOS passwords. The locations of these jumpers / dipswitches will vary depending on the motherboard manufacturer and ideally you should always refer to the motherboard or computer manufacturers documentation. If the documentation is unavailable, the jumpers/dipswitches can sometimes be found along the edge of the motherboard, next to the CMOS battery, or near the processor. Some manufacturers may label the jumper / dipswitch CLEAR – CLEAR CMOS – CLR – CLRPWD – PASSWD – PASSWORD – PWD. On laptop computers, the dipswitches are usually found under the keyboard or within a compartment at the bottom of the laptop.
Removing the CMOS Battery The CMOS settings on most systems are buffered by a small battery that is attached to the motherboard. (It looks like a small watch battery). If you unplug the PC and remove the battery for 10-15 minutes, the CMOS may reset itself and the password should be blank. (Along with any other machine specific settings, so be sure you are familiar with manually reconfiguring the BIOS settings before you do this.) Some manufacturers backup the power to the CMOS chipset by using a capacitor, so if your first attempt fails, leave the battery out (with the system unplugged) for at least 24 hours

i recently bought n old pc off a friend. the user name is monica and the password is andy this is the windows start screen. however the andy pasword does not work. my friend said t is correct. could it be the keyboard fault or is it something else? as why it will not rcognise the password
John, ask your friend if the password is ANDY or Andy or maybe Andi… The point is while the username is not case sensitive, the password is. Find out from your friend. Also, if that doesnt work out, my suggestion would be to format the PC. Since it is old, the windows OS might not have been updated for a while. You can customize your machine this way. If you still face issues, post here and we will try to help you out

To S Rizvi:
when you say small and ready to go scripts and commands, do you mean DOS batch commands like batch files or scripts in other languages like perl or something else.
If you are looking for DOS batch files, what kind of task are you looking at. Maybe we can dig something up and post them here or direct you to our code section. Let us know. Also thanks for registering at the AskStudent community section.
im finding a lot of things i download through bittorent will not play. they say wrong file or something similar . also a lot of dvds that i cannot play are kb or mb in size.is it possible that they are the whole dvd???
Tony, i think you dont have the right player to play the files you are downloading via bit torrent. I would highly recommend the VLC media player. Just go to google and type VLC media player. Download it. Its the best. Plays every kind of movie or music file out there.
i am currently using a friends computer, because my password isn’t working when i sign in on the startup window xp screen. i believe someone has messed with my computer for fun. how do i fix della… its a DELL in case her name doesn’t help.
Well, Keyonna the easiest way out might be to reformat your computer with Windows XP especially if the only account on that computer is your account. Before you reformat, I would verify the “Caps Lock” key is not on and try a blank password. Also try username admin password blank to see if you can log back in. If you can’t there are technical ways to do it without the need to reformat your computer. Let me know if you can work it out and we will be glad to guide you further
if i reformat, will i lose everything i have? also what is the username admin password blank? my apologies, but i’m a bio major. can you break it down in simpler terms? i can follow directions very well.
I have forgotten the BIOS password for my computer. I am currently using my brothers computer. I’ve tried using backdoor passwords, I’ve tried unplugging the mouse and keyboard because I read that could help, I’ve tried holding down the left shift key during boot up, I’ve tried every password I can think of, I’ve tried pressing the ESC key very fast repeatedly, I’ve tried EVERYTHING!
Does anyone know of any free password cracking software or anything else I can do? ;(

im a student at school wondering how would i be able too bypass administrative password are is there a way i get a pasword for anny kind of computer with an administrative lock on it?
A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don’t have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.
B. By Using Software:
I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds
