f. Press calculate. Now, you are shown a list of unlock codes for your cell phone. Type one of those codes in your cell phone as it is.
Congratulations, your cell phone is now unlocked

I recently bought a Samsung A877 Impression that was supposed to be unlocked to replace the same model whose touch screen stopped working. Insert the pay as you go sim card and the card loads contacts & everything from the card. But it won’t connect to the network to make calls or send messages. Says only SOS/Emergency calls are allowed. The card works fine in the original broken Impression and the previous flip phone I had. Is there a way to check to make sure that a phone is unlocked? It was advertised as unlocked so I’m dismayed that I can’t plug my SIM card in and go.

I recently bought an advertised “unlocked” Samsung Impression (A877) it replace the same model whose touch screen stopped working. A prepay SIM card I’ve been using for years worked fine in the original model doesn’t allow me to make network connection in the replacement. It loads SIM info but it says only emergency/SOS calls are allowed. Is there a way to check to see that the phone is truly unlocked? The Prepay SIM is AT&T/Cingular.

Instructions for unlocking Blackberry 8300
Warning! The Wireless Mode MUST BE OFF before performing the given SIM Unlock instructions in order to avoid causing the device from becoming defective.
How to turn Wireless Mode Off:
1. Scroll to the Airplane Icon (Turn Wireless Off.)
2. Press Select.
3. Wireless Mode will turn off.
How to SIM Unlock the device:
1. Go to the “Options” screen
2. Select the “SIM Card” option
3. Type ALT-MEPD (hold ALT key while typing the 4 Letters, M-E-P-D)
4. Release the ALT key; it should then display a list “SIM, Network, Network Subset, etc…”
5. To select “Network” type ALT-MEPE (since E is the Key that gives 2 when shifted)
6. Release the ALT key, it should then ask for the code
7. Enter the unlock code provided.
