This is interwesting and rather points to the modification of a single reg value (“NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers”) to be naive:

I have that entry (in XP Home) and it’s set to 1 but I still get the nag/pop-up
Here’s the reg export:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
“RebootRelaunchTimeoutEnabled”=dword:00000000
“NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers”=dword:00000001

True, it may not exist on some PCs. If it doesn’t, then create it with regedit !

same as………. please can somebody update this info or explain why this reg key does not appear on my machine

i am running xp home 2002 SP3…… and if i find that windows updates and then restarts my computer against my will again, i’m going to launch it through my bedroom window….. i have just lost so much work because of it…..arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhh…

The tree ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Policies \Microsoft\Windows \WindowsUpdate\AU’ does not exist on my PC. There is no ‘WindowsUpdate’ folder under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Policies \Microsoft\Windows
